Episode 22- Alison Mann,  Coaching and Therapy for Hair Loss

"I feel like I have a much fuller view of what body image mental health looks like, and it's not just your stomach, your legs, your arms; it's also your hair, your facial hair, your eyebrows, your eyelashes.  And that was something clearly not a lot of professionals knew about, because when you get diagnosed with alopecia it's never part of the conversation to be like 'Hey here's support you can get for the emotional impact of it.'  That doesn't exist."

On this episode of Alopecia Connection, Frank & Tommy welcome Alison Mann, an inspiring therapist and wellness coach, specializing in body image and alopecia!  Alison shares her story of developing alopecia at a young age, the world of competitive gymnastics, and her turn towards helping others with the emotional impact of alopecia.  Through her own experience with alopecia, Alison identified a gap in emotional support options available for those experiencing alopecia.

To help address this need, Alison has developed her own practice, Aid By Ali, where she offers professional therapy services for those residing in New York State, and coaching for those elsewhere.  Her collection of therapeutic journals gives another avenue for those looking for support, or for help in processing their experience.  If all that wasn't enough, Alison also offers a free virtual monthly support group!
