In a disease that can really make you feel so powerless that is so important, because even though the situation won't change, tomorrow you're going to wake up and still going to be bald... your outlook on it can and will."
On this episode of Alopecia Connection, meet Erika, an amazing women with a powerful story of how friends can make such a difference in our lives. Erika developed alopecia as a young women, going through all the emotional and physical impacts. After making the decision to shave her head, Erika's friend Cynthia accompanied her to the hairdressers to provide support. There Cynthia sat in the chair next to Erika and told the stylist to "giver her what she's having," and proceeded to have her head shaved as well! What an incredible friend, to show such support in this way. They remain best of friends years later, with Erika even being chosen as the Godmother to Cynthia's daughter. Erika shares other stories of her amazing friends supporting her in this alopecia journey.
Erika is also quite a culinary master, taking on a challenge to cook a dish from every country in the world! She documents this on a dedicated instagram account, @globalkitchenadditction.
